Mentoring and Support

A central component of this summer program is to provide day to day mentoring and support so that this is a successful teaching experience for you. Please give us some honest feedback about the day to day mentoring you are receiving. Do you feel as supported as you did prior to beginning the program? Is there anything we need to do differently in relation to the mentoring and support you are receiving?

  1. Wow! I feel like everyone in this program is there to encourage and support. I am so thankful for those who are in charge of the organization of the program, the mentor teachers, and even those teaching with me. Everyone has been great. For me personally, I would love more constructive criticism. Obviously, I love to know what I am doing well but I definitely need to know my areas where I am weak that I may not be able to see. Overall, it has been so great and I have learned so much and been extremely encouraged.

  4. Well, I don't want to sound like a mocking bird, but they are right; I can't say it better than Laura has. Everyone has been a big help & they still are. Whenever I need anything, if I ask Ms. Jackson, Mr. Lewis, anyone; if they have it, they will gratefully pass it over. If they don't have, they will try their best to find it.

  5. The mentoring has been wonderful. I have felt comfortable expressing any concerns and or asking questions to all of the leadership team. The response has been courteous, respectful, and open. The observations have been wonderful and the feedback has beenextremely constructive. Thank you!

  6. Of course, I would agree. You guys have been wonderful. The ideas have been great. I feel like I have also developed some wonderful friendships through this program, and I have already started thinking about how I am going to miss you all! Pitiful, I know! The hardest part of teaching reading we already determined was the lack of "hands-on" materials and ideas. Other than that, the program has been gold.

I appreciate all of the support I have been given. There are some things that I had ideas for that I did not know how to fully bring it home. Once I went and expressed my concerns, my problems were cleared. I was given a correction with something I was trying to bring out of my daily data. I love corrective criticism. I am in here to learn so that I can be the most effective teacher in the world. Thank you to everyone who helped me with this program.

  11. I loved the support from the professors and in-service teachers from the program! I was actually surprised at all the support and encouragement being sent out to all the pre-service teachers. I am actually speechless when it comes to the support given, but very thankful for it!
